God Will Do Miracles Through You!
Our lesson today, comes from Mark 4:35-40 King James Version (KJV)
35 And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.
36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.
37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.
38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and said unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?
39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?
On our last blog we talked about storms that come into a life. The last Scripture we used was found in Mark 4:35-40. In this scripture we see where Jesus spoke a word to the storm and it ceased. Then he turns to his disciples and he asked a question: why are you so fearful? Then he asked how is it that you have no faith?
In the question Jesus was making a statement to his disciples, that they could have done something about the storm. He had made himself their example, because they had been with him for quite sometime. They saw how he used the word and had done many miracles; they also had done some. His rebuke to the disciples would not have been justified if they had no knowledge of the word, or had never seen the word had not been demonstrated through them.
Just like the disciples, many Christians feel that they are powerless in the storm, even though they have Christ living on the inside with them. They are like the disciples who were in the boat with Jesus. They did'nt see themselves with any power. It did not dawn on them what Jesus had been teaching and showing them. They allowed the storm to capture their faith, which caused them not to believe the word, but to instead believe what they saw and heard. Why were they so fearful?
1. They focused on the fact that the storm was big and rough.
2. They had never seen anyone control the weather.
(a). Although I know that they heard of the story about Elijah who prophesied no rain for three and one half years, and then he called for rain. This is in 1 Kings 17th & 18th chapters.
3. They let the storm put fear in their minds.
(a). The church today says "Let's look to God because only he knows what the outcome is going to be. He alone can only change this situation." Like Elijah, we do carry the power and authority to change situations.
4. They believed they had to wake Jesus up because they had no power. This is how most people in the church see themselves today, powerless!
I know, because I used to see myself like that. What you have to do is see yourself in a different way and in a different light. The light being the Word of God, this is the way God sees you.
First of all, you have to know that the Word of God is true.
Secondly, you have to know that what it says about you is true.
Thirdly, in addition to knowing, you have to believe that what the Word of God says about you is true.
Always believe God and know that the Word will always work through you. Let this truth become established in your heart. It will cause you to run and conquer and to see the VICTORY in every adverse situation. You ALWAYS WIN!!!
